At work I moved tables and chairs. I painted a board covered with paper. Bubbles emerged from under the paper as it dried and I peeled them off where possible. Paint got on my fingers. After this I repainted the board and more bubbles emerged. Arthur helped me to pick them off. I painted it again when Simon said he wanted it painted and joked that perhaps I had been painting the board for too long.
When I write I read it and remove unnecessary words. I do this after reading the blurb on the back of my copy of The Hard Life by Flann O'Brien which says, amongst other things,

With a pure and ruthless wit, Flann O'Brien gives us scenes of classic scale; his economy is incomparable, his invention non-stop.

I have not read The Hard Life but I hope that when I read it I will understand the idea of economy. For now though I understand it as using the least amount of words that are needed necessary. That is how I prefer to think of it.

Today at work I had to move around some tables and some chairs. At one point I was painting a board that had some paper on it. As the paint dried bubbles appeared under the paper and so I had to peel off the paper wherever I could. I got paint on my fingers. After I had done that I painted over the new gaps and then I picked off the new bubbles and Arthur helped me. Then I painted it again because Simon said that he just wanted it painted and he joked that perhaps I had spent far too long painting that particular board.
When I have written something I enjoy reading through it again and trying to remove unnecessary words. I do this after reading the blurb on the back of a copy of The Hard Life by Flann O'Brien which says, amongst other things,

With a pure and ruthless wit, Flann O'Brien gives us scenes of classic scale; his economy is incomparable, his invention non-stop.

I have not The Hard Life but I hope that I will soon so that I can understand this idea of economy. For now though I understand it as using the least amount of words that are needed necessary. That is how I like to think of it.
